When a reclusive film enthusiast Will, inherits his father’s old cinema in a dying Yorkshire fishing town, he's forced to make tough decisions. Learning of the councils plans to sell the site to a supermarket firm for redevelopment, he must learn to stand up for what he believes in to protect his father’s legacy.
With the big multiplex out of town, no money to upgrade old equipment or extend the lease on the land, he decides to make his own movie and engage the towns estranged inhabitants to help. The plot of which is loosely based on Jaws – a film he and his father loved.
What begins as a small crew, each with their own motives to help, soon grows into a community extravaganza: open auditions, charity shops providing costumes, lights borrowed from the youth theatre and a robotic shark! As the townspeople come together and Will’s plan seems more achievable -- so does the supermarkets devious plans to sabotage the shoot.
Through his personal growth from cynic to leader, Will confronts his grief and uses his imagination and the camaraderie of filmmaking to inspire a community, gaining national attention and improving the lives of those around him.
