Shot for Laphroaig Whiskey the brief “Challenging by Nature’ was to create an international identification to be aired prior to sponsored TV programs. The logline focused on Laphroaig’s distinctly polarizing taste – enticing the viewer to take the challenge and try it’s unique flavor.

Shot entirely in a studio in London, a complex boat mechanism was built in front of green screen to simulate the rough Scottish waters, presenting the narrative of a Scottish lobster fisherman confronted by the high seas -- making it home safely. The voice over cementing the principle of theme and brand by stating ‘if you want an easy life – try something else.’

The demanding compositing  of the stormy ocean and pack shot backgrounds was supervised by Adam Broderick fresh out of the renowned visual effects company D-Neg -- prior to his journey onto Star Wars.  

Hugely popular the ident was shown through Europe and Scandinavia.
